Did you know that professional photos can increase your short-term occupancy by up to 24%?! Let’s face it, we live in a digital world, and whether you like it or not your potential guests will judge the quality of your property by the quality of the photos you display. If your photos are blurry, poorly lit, or not very well composed, then potential guests are going to wonder what other corners you may have cut with your property. And with a swipe of the finger they are on to your competitors’ listing within seconds.

This is why it’s incredibly important to have great images, and to choose not just a Real Estate photographer, but a photographer that understands INTERIOR DESIGN photography.

After photographing for home stagers and interior designers for many years, I understand the important differences between Real Estate photography and Interior Design photography. In Real Estate photography the main focus is to show the “space” of the property by using wide angles and uniform, bright lighting. It is less focused on the furniture, mood, natural lighting and extras included in a space. When I photograph Real Estate, I’m not focusing on the coffee maker, comfortable bedding, included toiletries, etc. that aren’t going to sell with the home.

When it comes to Interior Design photography, you’ll start to see a more natural lighting and how it falls upon a sofa/table, whereas in Real Estate photography, I wouldn’t feature that sofa/table in the first place since it won’t be there once the home is sold.

Visual storytelling is the main difference here, because in the short term rental market your space is meant to be relaxed in, and sold over and over again. In other words, Interior Design photography is a unique service intended to draw out the desire for each unique space in the home - and to help you make more from your investment over many years!
